Golf
It would be a bit of an exaggeration to call anything I do "golf." I took up the game fairly recently and I stink. But even a golfer who stinks will hit a few great shots every round, and that's what brings you back. Besides, it's a fun time even if you don't play well.
Here's some of my golf info. I'm posting on the theory that that will give me an incentive to improve.
Golf Diary
5-24-2007 |
First round of the season. I played surprisingly
well of the tee, but wasted a lot of strokes near the greens.
Finished at 121 -- about my usual. Sometimes I wonder whether it's worth
playing if I'm not improving. Maybe a series of lessons this summer could
help. |

| 5-17-2007 | Took my clubs to the driving range for the first
time in seven months. I won't say that I was any good, because I wasn't,
but I was pleased to see that at least I was about the same as when I
last played. At least I didn't completely forget my swing during the off
season. |

| 7-30-2006 | Just went to the driving range today, but had quite
an epiphany. I finally got what people mean by "hit down on the ball."
With an 8-iron first, then some other clubs. My goodness, what a difference!
The ball went higher, straighter, and probably 15 or 20 yards farther.
If I can just avoid exaggerating this change too much, it should really
improve my game. |

| 7-24-2006 | Played Haines Point with some colleagues. Shot 51 on the back nine. I think that's my best nine ever. Took some risks on the last few holes and they came off. Sank a long putt on 17. My score on the front nine? Don't ask, don't tell. |
