The Environmental
Law Association is a student-run
organization building a community of environmental leaders and stewards
within GW Law and the wider University. ELA works with students,
professors, alumni, and outside environmental professionals to organize
a variety of events for educational, social, and career purposes. In
addition to these formal events, ELA also offers members informal
opportunities to share information regarding environmental law courses
at the law school, and internship experiences and career options with
firms, non-governmental organizations, and government agencies in the
DC area.
Students
participate in ELA's pro bono project
with the Anacostia Watershed Society and also with the Student Animal
Legal Defense Fund's Animal Welfare Project. ELA is also an active
member of the National Association of Environmental Law Societies and
its Campus Climate Neutral project.
ELA membership is
open to all law students,
whether fully committed to a future in environmental law or simply
interested in getting outdoors.
