Human Rights in Pakistan: A Dynamic Perspective

  • Aziz Huq--practitioner Professor Shelton recommended highly as an expert in Pakistani political and legal affairs
  • Dr. Manzur Ejaz--a columnist for the Daily Times, BBC, the Nation, and the News. A Professor of Philosophy at the University of the Punjab in the 70's and the 80's, he faced harassment from the Islamic government of General Zia for his outspoken views, leading him to seek refuge in the United States. Dr. Ejaz did his Ph.D. in economics from Howard University, Washington DC. He is the author of " Epistemology of Development Economics", and "Ranjhan Yar ..." a Punjabi play staged in Washington.
  • Hina Hussain--a student who will give her own personal perspective of the political chaos and how it has affected her family and her perceptions of the conditions in Pakistan.

Panelists will discuss the the current human rights situation in Pakistan and the socio-political factors which affect the rights of its citizenry. Two practitioners and a student will share their unique perspectives on the current situation in Pakistan. Hear them speak candidly about the people, the politics and the power struggle which poses unpredictable challenges for this nation.
