External Competitions
What are External Competitions?
External competitions are hosted by law schools and institutions around the country throughout the academic school year. GW sponsors teams, usually of 4, to compete in external competitions. For more information please contact Todd Betor, VP of Externals at tbetor@law.gwu.edu.
When are the competitions?
External competitions are scheduled throughout the academic school year. Below is the list of external mock trial competitions currently scheduled for the 2008-2009 school year.
Who can participate?
Only members of the Mock Trial Board are eligible to compete in GW-sponsored external competitions. There are exceptions for non-Board members if the Executive Board decides to open a particular competition to the the general student body at GW.
Can I get credit for doing this competition?
Those participating may earn 1 credit hour for the competition that they compete in. However, credit is limited to 1 credit hour per semester and capped at 3 credit hours during your entire tenure at GW. The three credit hour limit also includes credits received through internal mock trial competitions as well as other GW Skills Boards competitions.
How can I sign up?
Board members wishing to compete must fill out an application and return it to the VP of External Competitions. Once placed on a team, participants must fill out an intent to compete form and register for the competition via GWeb or the Office of Student Affairs.
