I.                   Attendance and Approval of Minutes from September 9, 2003

 

II.                Guest: Prof. Raven-Hansen: 5-year plan to complete renovation of law school. Upgrade in electronics in the classrooms. Bigger offices for faculty b/c of their egos. New computer lab in Stuart – should be up and running soon. Replaced elevator in Stockton, Burns’ elevator will be replaced in Summer 2004.

Still to do: Plants in lounge area (expected by 12/03). Email terminals located in Alcove (expected soon). Map/director terminals have been placed in walls, will be up and running soon. Street landscape should be completed in 8 weeks. Stockton to Stuart hallway on 2nd floor (with library entrance) will be completed in Summer 2004 but will need some form of security/swipe card system. Bathrooms in Stockton need to be renovated Lisner will be acquired as soon as Business School is built.  Business school delay due to undergraduate university problem with failure to meet dormitory requirement by DC. There will be a coffee bar in 2nd floor of Lisner. 

Long-Term Plan: Law Library built from 21st and G Street to 20th and G street (up to clinic building and Key apartments) – expected to be a $65 million project.  Only raised $20 million.

1.      ABA: 1st event for 1Ls will be this Friday.Variety of other events will be scheduled throughout semester.

5.      Community Service: Community Service – four people showed up to community service event in part due to rain. Thursday – Bake Sale8am to 2pm – please drop off food. Light the Night Walk – Oct. 2nd – meet at law school at 5:00pm – walk begins at 6:30 pm. November will have Can Food Drive. Blood Drive and Sky Driving in April.

6.      Commencement: Graduation will remain on May 23. Email in the next two weeks asking for input in events for commencement week. Need to figure out what we want to do about the ski trip?

7.      Elections: 1L & LLM elections will be held tomorrow (Wednesday).

8.      First Year Programs: Res Ipsa done – stuff boxes tomorrow

12.  Minority Affairs: 50th Anniversary of Brown v. Bd – February or sometime in Spring want to have some sort of event celebrating decision – faculty speakers possible?

14.  Program Board: Citywide this week at Lulu’s. Thirsty Thursday coming soon. Halloween Party on October 30 at Polyesters.
